DANIEL HALLIDAY ACADEMY

The programme is held every Wednesday evening from 4.30pm - 6.30pm at An Hour For Others Community Hub, 657 - 659 West Derby Road, Tuebrook, Liverpool, L13 8AG. The programme is named in memory of 14yr old Daniel Halliday who lost his life tragically at Crosby beach in June 2024, Daniel was a big part of AHFO youth groups and his loss was felt deeply by all of us. We wanted to make sure Daniel’s name lived on within our organisation and we felt this was the perfect thing to do as he was such a big part of the AHFO family.

The programme is for 12-16 yr olds from the Liverpool region, it is centred around the personal development of young people, helping them move towards their full potential and increase their opportunities in life after school.

We will work with the young people in an educational style setting, focusing on major areas needed to live long, happy lives. The structure of the sessions include helping young people really focus on seeing the good in their life and promoting a positive mindset. The programme guides young people towards taking action that lead to positive new behaviours, it conveys important knowledge on how to live by your strengths and use them to be successful. We will support our groups around emotion intelligence and help them develop skills that keeps them in control of their emotions no matter what the outside world presents them with. Throughout the training we will be using powerful NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming and Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. This includes helping the youngsters challenge negative thinking, limited beliefs and negative emotions that may play out in their life causing problems. The programme helps students engage their intellectual part of the brain, particularly the pre frontal cortex where we make better decisions, act rationally, think positively and indeed are more goal orientated. All of this will improve the confidence and resilience of our young people and begin to bring about changes at a sub conscious level where the brains neuro plasticity means new neural pathways will be formed helping to make adjustments to behaviours and beliefs about themselves and the world around them.

The programme is a truly empowering and potentially life changing weekly activity in a safe, welcoming and fun environment. We do ask that all youngsters wishing to take part understand they have to be fully committed to getting involved and learning, we will not tolerate disruptive or disrespectful behaviour.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The programme is free for for all young people. We do rely heavily on support with fundraising, we do ask for engagement with this from children and parents/guardians. We feel this is a fair exchange of energy for all the time, effort, skills and resources invested into this programme.
