This is me Gill the Co-founder of Ahfo’s.From the age of 17 to 22 I went through domestic violence at the time I didn’t want to be here! I thought it was me, I must be doing something wrong, I just wanted to have a normal relationship like I seen my Mum and Dad have!! I had a baby girl at 19 when she was 2 and with the support of my family and friends, I finally started to break free! Thankfully at the time the police had resources so they was there to support me and I will be forever grateful!! At any age no one should have to live in fear at 21 years of age, I was a young mum and knew for the safety of my little girl I had to get away. I had to go through courts deal with the fear of what was going to happen day in day out but gradually I found the strength and luckily for me and my little girl I did get out and we had a life. We went on holidays, she danced, I became an accountant she now has her own business at the age of 23 and I couldn’t be prouder of her!One day when I was 34 I flew into New York, business class with my work, when I landed I got a lump in my throat thinking how far I had come from that scared young girl and I knew then I had to give back. I met Kevin at 37 and have been giving back through Ahfo’s on a daily basis to inspire people to be the best version of themselves no matter how hard life is for them now! We have done this and will continue to do this with Children, adults and elderly. From the 12th of April I will be doing a drop in for girls and even boys who are dealing with domestic violence whether that be domestic or mental abuse! I hope through the story of my journey of life I can inspire people to get away from the life they are living and have hope 💛💛If you are interested in this drop in, please get in touch on our website and fill in a referral form and I will be in touch. It is all confidential so please don’t be scared! If I can do it so can you 💛💛
